On Wednesday 3rd October staff from West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, University of Birmingham, Guild of Students and Birmingham City Council will be back on campus and in Selly Oak greeting students new to and returning to Selly Oak to help people settle in for the new year. This is the second day of three, following the first and very popular event last Tuesday, 25th September.
There will be a stand outside the main Library on campus from 11am-3pm where students can pick up advice and literature about anything from burglaries to fire safety, housing rights and advice to refuse and recycling collections. There will also be a number of free and practical items to take away such as timer switches, property marking kits and safe-cans for instance to help protect your home, as well as the opportunity to sign up to Selly Watch and register your phone and/or laptop onto the national property database (Immobilise)
From 4-8pm officers and staff will then be out and about in Selly Oak door-knocking and speaking to students at home to provide advice, particularly where issues are picked up on the doorstep.
If you miss out this time round though, we will be back again on Thursday 11th October.
