“Welcome/welcome back to Selly Oak Day” on 25th September

On Tuesday 25th September staff from West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, University of Birmingham, Guild of Students and Birmingham City Council will be greeting students new to and returning to Selly Oak to help people settle in for the new year.

There will  be a stand at the Grange Road entrance from 10am-3pm where students can pick up advice and literature about anything from burglaries to fire safety, housing rights and advice to refuse and recycling collections.  There will also be a number of free and practical items to take away such as timer switches, property marking kits and safe-cans for instance to help protect your home.

From 4-8pm officers and staff will then be out and about in Selly Oak door-knocking and speaking to students at home to provide advice, particularly where issues are picked up on the doorstep.

Further dates are planned for 3rd October and 11th October.
